Sweet dreams

I've always wanted to have a brother. A kuya, actually. But duh, I could never have one, unless in my dreams.

AND I JUST DID!

Well, I did dream about me having a brother. Not a kuya though, but a baby brother :) His name was Gabe (short for Gabriel). I asked my dad in my dream, "Anong pangalan nya?" In which my dad replied, "Gabriel." And his eyes were gray! @_@ (YES, just like the one in The Giver by Lois Lowry) Funny thing is, I've read the book so many years ago, not attached to any of the characters, and I wasn't thinking of The Giver recently. So why was my little brother sorta like him? I don't know.

My "brother" grew up. He was like 6-7 years old and he was thin (not malnourished, though) and he's very nice. Angelic :)

And I felt so happy in my dream. So differently happy, I just can't explain what exactly I was feeling. And the dream felt so true :) I never thought having a sibling could actually be so fun!

I woke up suddenly. The last thing I remembered in my dream was we were in front of a beautiful landscape, and he was asking me something and I was explaining something to him. As I woke up, that happy feeling suddenly just vanished and I was like "Wala pa rin akong kapatid. It was just a dream."

Unlike my other happy dreams, if I want to feel happy again, I'll just think of them and the happiness just comes back - no sweat. This time, no matter how I try to think of all the things that happened, how Gabe came to us and all that, I just can't get the feeling back. The feeling of having a sibling. Everything in that dream seems like a blur to me now. At least, I somehow experienced the feeling of having an angelic sibling, even if it's just in my dream.

"It is not good to dwell on the dreams and forget to live..." - J.K Rowling's Harry Potter (Pero si Jane ang nagsabi saken nyan)

--- Lord, I just want to thank you for the dream. Thank you for making dreams in the first place. Thank you for letting us escape from reality for awhile and go someplace else while we are sleeping.

HAPPY-ness.

I'm sure that happiness is what everyone wants to feel. Always. You feel happy when you get high grades, do well in acads, your crush suddenly talks to you, your parents gives you extra allowance, just got that shirt you wanted since the dark ages, and all those stuffs. But that happiness doesn't last. You can't say, "Dude, I'm so happy right now because I got an A+ in Math when I was in preschool," when right now Math is killing you slowly or "Pare, I just bought this shirt I wanted," but right now, it's the pinaka-laos shirt in the whole fashion history.

Things change and so is our perspective on happiness. Our experiences throughout our lives are sorted out automatically into what is happy and what is not, and usually, we just want the things that makes us happy. We spend precious time and money for them.

I used to say that our purpose in life is to be happy. To be happy, we do the things we like and enjoy. But then, sometimes, somehow it makes us inconsiderate and selfish when we only think of our own happiness.

Happiness is so hard to define. or to understand. or to explain. Maybe because happiness doesn't need to be defined or explained, nor to be understood.

Honestly, I don't know what happiness really is. All I know is that cursing life won't make you happy. Not at all.
